Waste Management, as part of the solid waste and recyclables collection program, collects leaf waste at curbside (2023-24 Leaf Waste Pick-Up Calendar (PDF)). Unlimited Curbside Collection of Leaf Waste Kraft paper bags may be used for leaf waste. Leaf waste may not be placed in plastic bags. Bags or containers that have a mix of leaf waste and trash will not be collected by Penn Waste, nor will they be accepted at the compost facility. It includes:īecause leaf waste is a recyclable item, it may not be put in the trash or burned. Please avoid parking on the street as it causes significant delays and may result in areas where leaves will not be collected.Lower Paxton Township processes leaf waste into compost at its Leaf Waste Compost Facility on Conway Road. Crews will not collect leaves that are covered by tarps. If the leaves are mixed with other materials the leaves will not be collected. These materials will damage the vacuum equipment and will delay the completion of the leaf collection. Do not place sticks, twigs, branches, or other yard waste materials with leaves. Raking leaves into the roadway can also block storm drains which can cause localized flooding.Raking leaves into roadway will slow staff down and create unsafe conditions for the motoring public. Rake the leaves to within 4 feet of the curb or edge of roadway. Please do not rake leaves into the street.
